IB Program at Hillcrest High School

The International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO), founded in 1968 in Geneva, Switzerland, is a recognized leader in the field of international education. It is a non-profit, mission-driven foundation. While the IB programs cultivate internationalism and respect for other cultures, they also adapt to the local environment and allow students to maintain a strong sense of cultural identity. Students are taught to be active learners, well-rounded individuals and engaged citizens, who gain practical experience of being part of an international community. The overall goal: to enable students to function independently in unfamiliar environments
At Hillcrest High School, we believe that IB is for ALL students. Therefore we work to provide an individualized program for each student who desires to participate. We are authorized to offer three separate IB pathways that students can follow based on their own needs, interests, and goals:

IB Diploma Program (DP)

IB Career Program (CP)

IB Individual Course Program
IB Philosophy

The International Baccalaureate® aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.

To this end the organization works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment.

These programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.

Our History

Hillcrest High School has proudly housed the IB Program since 2002.

We take pride in our close-knit but growing community.  From our first class of only 12 senior students to our current enrollment of over 100 seniors in the 2018 graduating class,

IB students carry themselves with Husky pride and represent leadership, independent learning, cooperation, and global awareness no matter where they go.

Hillcrest now houses three different IB Pathway options: Diploma, Career, and Independent Courses for any and all students interested in tackling a new learning challenge, both academically and characteristically during their high school years.
